Jamie has over a decade in leadership, product development, quality control, and sales/marketing. She has led multiple businesses through fast-pace growth and loves the challenges that come with that. In her free time, she loves traveling, experiencing new things, and spending time on the farm with the animals. Jamie also loves to be involved in the community and volunteering.
Burnie served our local community as a deputy sheriff for a decade before transitioning into a career that involved his passion for hunting, so he became a taxidermist. Burnie has been trained by two national champion taxidermists and spends a large amount of his time taking continuing education courses to continuously grow his taxidermy knowledge. In any of his free time out of the shop, you can find him baiting all of his deer spots year-round, checking his cameras, scouting for turkey signs, shed hunting, coastal duck hunting, trying to reduce the coyote population, putting out salt and minerals, and practically any activity that is remotely associated with hunting. His passion runs deep in his blood!
They met in 2016, married in 2018, and started their farm shortly after. By combining their two last names, "Harpley Homestead" was created. At the time, they were building a small hobby farm, now it is continuously expanding. In April 2021, Jamie and Burnie started "Harpley's" as a taxidermy studio for Burnie. Shortly after opening, Jamie realized that her skillset and previous experience in FDA food manufacturing gave her the nudge to expand Harpley's to offer deer meat processing for the 2021 deer season - creating a "one stop shop" for the hunting community. Once getting involved in the meat industry, Jamie became interest in government regulations, supply & demand, and the macroeconomics of the industry. (She nerds out sometimes.) The realization of the need for additional meat processors for the beef industry was obvious. For over a year, Jamie traveled the country visitng other meat plants, devleoping mentor relationships and becoming involved with AAMP(American Association of Meat Processors)...and in 2022 made the decision to expand Harpley's into cattle processing. Throughout 2022, she worked through zoning, financing, and regulatory challenges that come along with meat processing facilities; but, she held strong and pushed through those...officially announcing the business expansion in 2023!
Harpley's is excited to continue to grow and offer top-quality services to those in and around Randolph County, NC. In 2024, Harpley's has announced additional expansion on Zoo Parkway and hopes to continue to grow the business to offer additional services and products. Stay Tuned!
