Jamie, owner of Harpley's, has over a decade in executive leadership. She has worked in multiple industries including legal, music and entertainment, retail, and manufacturing. She as spent her career guiding businesses through fast-pace growth and loves the challenges that come with that. In each industry, she prides herself in being involved with Industry leadership, and enjoys the complexities of government regulations and understanding the "big picture." Jamie is also quite involved in her local community, where she works with nonprofits and is drawn to giving back.
Burnie, Jamie's husband, served the local community as a deputy sheriff for a decade before transitioning into a career that involved his passion for hunting, so he became a taxidermist. In April 2021, Burnie started a taxidermy studio in Asheboro, NC. With Jamie's previous experience in owning a FDA food manufacturing company, it gave the duo the knowledge to merge their talents together to - creating a "one stop shop" for the hunting community. Thus, Harpley's was created. A merging of their two last names Harper and Crumley.
While Burnie headed up the wild game division of the company, Jamie became interested in government regulations, supply & demand, and the macroeconomics of the cattle industry. For over a year, she traveled the country visiting other meat plants, developing relationships and becoming involved with AAMP(American Association of Meat Processors) and the Meat Institute. She created a strategy for expanding Harpley's into beef processing.
Throughout 2022, she worked through zoning, financing, and regulatory challenges that come along with meat processing facilities; but, she held strong and pushed through those. By 2023, Harpley's became a state-inspected beef processor.
By mid 2024, the company had continued its growth and became a USDA Inspected processing plant. In less than a year, Harpley's had grown its further-processing capacity and again, planned another expansion. In the fall of 2025, Harpley's was the recipient of a $600,000+ financial grant from the State of North Carolina Agriculture Manufacturing and Processing Initiative Grant to assist in advancing equipment for its production.
With this expansion in mind, the additional capacity, and Jamie's drive to continue growing the business, she made the strategic decision to acquire an existing meat packing plant. In August 2025, she purchased Randolph Packing Company, Inc also based out of Asheboro, NC. Randolph Packing has been in business since 1947, started by the Hamlet family. The family business was on its third-generation and had grown to being ranked #27 in the United States for Beef Packers.* Jamie was attracted to the business because of its family roots, the consistency throughout the years, as well as its larger capacity. And the Hamlet family was looking for someone to come into the business and continue a family legacy. Jamie is committed to continuing that legacy.
With continued strategic growth in mind, the Randolph Packing location will also be undergoing additional building renovations, thus increasing its capacity and upgrading its equipment - to be completed by mid-2026. Stay tuned for what is to come from Harpley's!
After a review in October 2024, Harpley's successfully received Animal Welfare Approval.
